ON A PERSONAL NOTE
I am a Gippsland local, lover of learning and a someone who knows first-hand how life can turn on a dime.
I started my consulting business over 10 years ago after experiencing a life event that transformed my entire life.
Now I bring an unwavering passion to my role as a positive psychology interventionist, coach and facilitator.
In 2006, life threw me a curveball...
...a truck full of lemons in fact!
I was given bad news about my health. The kind of news that can floor you. It was cancer and it was pretty advanced.
My entire life changed overnight. I needed extensive medical care and I was unable to go back to my previous job in a part-time role.
It was then that I knew I had to make a decision. I could give in to the negativity or lift myself out of it and do something extraordinary.
So I decided to make lemonade!
I applied for a short-term position coordinating a Young Women’s Leadership Programme and suddenly it hit me! What I’d been trying to achieve for years was happening. My transition from being a full-time manager to starting my own business was right there in front of me.
So in 2007, I started Linda Rowley Consulting.
A few years after starting my own business I had another serious health scare, so I did the same again.
I waited until I was well enough then I took on the biggest challenge of my life. I booked flights, packed my case, travelled to Europe and walked the Camino de Santiago.
It was something I’d always wanted to do and this was life’s way of saying "let’s go Linda, it’s time to kick more goals."
I’m not sharing this story for admiration or applause. I’m sharing it to let you know that I’ve been there. I’ve had dark days, difficult decisions and times when it would be easier to give in to life.
Most importantly I know the thought processes to get you out again.
I’ve felt the elation of embracing life and the confidence that comes from realising your own potential.
That’s why I love what I do. I want to help everyone live life to its full potential because I know how great it feels!
A LOVE OF LEARNING
As well of a hefty dose of life wisdom I have a thirst for knowledge.
Even before my diagnosis in 2006 I was undertaking coaching courses and attaining accreditation in psychometric profiling tools.
Since then the learning has never stopped. I have over 17 relevant qualifications focused on helping my clients.
I do what I do because I love it. It’s that simple. I have a genuine interest in learning everything related to enhancing how we experience life and increasing the wellbeing of individuals and teams. Over the years I’ve built up a deep understanding of what works and what doesn’t.
Most importantly, it has given me a wide range of tools to help you.
I WEAR THE FULL TOOL BELT
There’s a saying that a man with a hammer sees everything as a nail.
But if you only use one tool, you only see one solution.
I prefer to have the full tool belt.
So when it comes to the tools and techniques I use, I want to know them all. That’s how I tailor my approach to each individual person and team.
I'M NOT YOUR TYPICAL CONSULTANT
Before I was diagnosed with cancer, I was a Manager in a Community Health Organisation.
That’s why I enjoy working with public health organisations in the aged care, disability and mental health sectors. I’ve got a unique understanding of these sectors and love working with teams who are committed to improving the lives of vulnerable people.
I get my biggest kick from helping individuals break down the barriers that are holding them back and seeing a visible improvement in their lives. A dream day in my job is hearing back from a client who’s achieved the goal they’ve been dreaming of for years.
In 2022 I started a podcast and launched a website called Workplace Wellbeing natters (WWN) that focuses on the workplace wellbeing of people working within the health and community services sector. With my extensive experience in the sector, and a deep understanding of the challenges those workers face every single day, my aim was to create a community dedicated to supporting wellbeing and wellness at work.
Workplace Wellbeing natters encourages all of us to take care of ourselves and the people we're working with. There are a range of online workshops and webinars, podcasts and helpful resources all available in the one location, to make it as easy and simple as possible to find the information you need, when you need it most.
